Hello,

The network of Campus numérique francophone (CNF) of the Agence
universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Vietnam, at Hanoi, Danang
and Hô Chi Minh-City, will organize an examination session leading to
the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) certification, levels 1 and 2,
on Saturday 14th january 2012, from 8:30 til 12:00 am.

The exams will be taken online using a specially designed live-CD. The
exam language can be chosen by the candidate between French or
English. The candidate will be able to know his score immediately
after the submission of his answers and thus whether he has succeeded,
or not, to the exam.

You will find relevant information on why being LPI certified [1] on
the LPI site, as well as links to self-study materials [2]. You will
also find training materials in French on the LPI-Francophonie site
[3]. CNF Hanoi has also the iso file of the eLpicx live-CD and
live-DVD (English versions) for self-study and exam training and can
provide it freely (copying iso file for self-burning) or for 5000 VND
(CD/DVD).

To obtain LPIC-1 you need to have succeded in the two exams, 101 and 102.
To obtain LPC-2, you must hold an active LPIC-1 and to have succeeded
in the two exams, 201 and 202.

The order in which you may obtain the different single exams is not
important. A single successfully passed exam, leading to the LPIC-1 or
LPIC-2, is valid for 5 years. Recertification of LPI Certificate
holders is needed after 5 years (from the date of certification) to
retain the active status of the LPI Certificate [4].

Each separate exam (i.e. 101, 102, 201, 202) will cost 75 euros for
people from the private sector, 50 euros for people from the public
sector and NGOs, and 40 euros for official staff from universities
that are members of AUF.

To register for the examination session, first you need to obtain a
LPI ID from the LPI web site [5]. Then you will need to fill the form
[6] online.

We apologize that this form is presented only in French but, with the
help of Google translation, it shall be quite easy to understand and
to fill-in your personal information. In case of any doubt you can
always contact me for help.

The deadline for registration to the exam session has been set to
Friday 6th January 2012 for organisational purpose but might be
extended later, if needed.

NB: A discount of 15% on exam fees will be granted to candidates who
pay their exam fees in advance before the closure of registration for
this exam session on 6th of January 2012. This discount scheme does
not apply to candidates who are official staff from universities
members of AUF.

Addresses of the CNF centers in Vietnam can be found at [7].

You may freely forward this information to whom it might be of concern.

If you need more information, although most has already been written
in this email, please feel free to contact me outside the list.

Thank you very much for your attention.
